Western Power Trading Forum

WPTF is a broad-based organization with over 100-member companies, dedicating to encouraging competition in Western states electric markets. Scott comes to this position from a background that has been dedicated to competitive electric and natural gas markets.

Prior to coming to WPTF, Scott was the Senior Market Advisor in the Policy Office at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) from 2008-2017. He was responsible for advising the Commission and staff on electric and natural gas markets.

Andy Ott

Head of Technical and Partner Operations

X, the Moonshot Factory

Andrew Ott  leads the Technical and Partnership functions for Tapestry,  X - The Moonshot Factory’s moonshot for the electric grid.  As the Head of the divisions, Mr. Ott is responsible for Partner engagement, technical strategy and execution of technical solutions to accelerate the decarbonization of the electric grid.  Mr Ott also serves as a non-executive director on several corporate boards. 

 

He formerly served as President and CEO of PJM Interconnection, the largest power grid in North America and the largest electricity market in the world with a transaction volume of over $50 billion annually. While serving as PJM Chief Executive he was responsible for executive oversight of all aspects of company operation, for setting the strategic direction of the company and served as a Board member. Mr. Ott is internationally recognized as an expert in electricity market design and power system operation, has testified as an executive and technical expert in the US congress and in numerous legislative and regulatory proceedings. He has extensive experience in power system engineering, transmission planning, applied mathematics, electricity market design and implementation. Mr. Ott served as Co-chair of the Energy Transition Forum for 8 years, an international organization focused on accelerating the energy transition. He is an IEEE Fellow and an Honorary Member of CIGRE. Mr. Ott received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science in applied statistics from Villanova University.

Located about 15-20 minutes from the Palm Springs Airport, The Omni Rancho Las Palmas is the destination of the 2024 WPTF Winter General Meeting.

Golf Tournament

WPTF holds a golf tournament at each of its meetings. Join us on Thursday, February 29th at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas golf course. The Winter 2024 tournament will be individual play with an 9:00 am shotgun start. Email frank@wptf.org for additional information on the golf outing.

The golf tournament is SOLD OUT.

Tournament includes:

  • Green fees, golf cart, practice balls and prizes!
  • Beverages on the course and lunch following 
  • Tournament Fee: $179
  • Rental clubs and shoes are not included

FAQs

I'm registered as a member, and I can no longer attend.
Cancellations will be accepted without penalty through Wednesday, February 22, 2024. If you are a WPTF member and cancel after that date, you will receive a cancellation invoice for $400 to cover some of the costs associated with guarantees WPTF has made with the hotel.

I'm registered as a non-member, and I can no longer attend the meeting. Can I get a refund?
Refund requests will be honored through Wednesday, February 22, 2024. After this date, refunds will not be issued because all hotel food and beverage and conference supplies will have been guaranteed by that date. However, substitutes are welcome to attend in your place. Please send substitution information to frank@wptf.org.

Refunds will not be processed until after the conference.
