SAVE THE DATE: The Western Power Trading Forum (WPTF) will conduct a roundtable as a follow-on to its webinar on the recent heat wave in California. We will reprise CAISO information and data on regional pricing and resource performance.

Carrie Bentley will provide updated CAISO data, California RA rules and preliminary conclusions. Jeff Richter from Energy GPS will update information future Resource Mix for the Pacific NW region. This session will focus on these topics:

  • Are current reserves and transmission arrangements able to handle a heat wave that covers more of the region?
  • What near-term changes need to be made?
  • Can California Resource Adequacy rules be changed to harmonize with the rest of the West?
  • Will a Day-Ahead market improve transmission access?
  • Would one or more regional RTOs provide better “plumbing” for the region?
